Privacy Policy

Annex is a personal book-tracking app with optional social features. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Data we collect
- Account: your email address, or the identifier provided by Sign in with Apple / Google when you use those.
- Profile (if you use the social features): username, display name, optional bio, and privacy preferences.
- Your library: the books you add, reading status, ratings, notes and reading lists.
- Social content: posts you create (quotes, book/author/concept shares), follows, reactions, and any reports or blocks you submit.
How we use it
- To provide the app: store your library and lists and sync them across your devices.
- To power social features you opt into: showing your shares to your followers and surfacing others’ shares to you.
- To keep the community safe: handling reports and blocks.
Service providers
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
- Supabase hosts our database and authentication.
- Google Books API provides book metadata and cover images; your search terms are sent to Google to return results.
- Apple / Google are used only if you choose those sign-in methods.
What other users can see
By default your account is discoverable and people can follow you and see what you explicitly post. Your reading library, statuses and lists stay private unless you turn on specific visibility options, mark a list public, or post about them. You can switch your account to private (approve followers), or turn off social features entirely, at any time in Settings.
Security & retention
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and protected by row-level security so each account only accesses its own data and what others have shared with it. Session tokens are stored in the device keychain. We retain your data until you delete your account.
Your choices
- Edit your profile and visibility settings, block or report users, in the app.
- Delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete my account. This permanently removes your profile, library, lists, posts and social graph.
Children
Annex is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country).
